A sneak peek at *my room of my own*

Hello, my lovely friends. Thanks for all your encouragement about our recent gardening effortsjust what I needed to hear before I tackle the rest of that confounded ivy on the fence this weekend! Another iris has unfurled her pretty fronds today which has gladdened my heart. Oh, and it looks like we have an apricot tree in our veggie patch! Yes, this little gardening caper is helping to lift my spirits as I start the slow process of finding my *new normal* after recent events

Another little project which is bringing me pleasure is sorting out my precious *room of my own*. So many of you have been waiting patiently for some photos so here are a few of my work-in-progress on my desk.
See anything familiar? Eagle-eyed Planetarians will spot a few things immediately. Like Emma’s desk – in a much better state than back here! There’s sweet Iris’s divine birthday butterfly scarf which I’ve been wearing quite a bit lately. Let’s take a closer look.
Here’s my butterfly vase which you saw, filled with vibrant daffodils, here. There’s little Charlotte, keeping me company and surrounded by a delicate butterfly dish, a divine blue Tasmanian ceramic box (unfortunately I can’t recall the artist) and a little French beeswax candle.
You might recognise some of Felicity’s handmade fluttery friends on the wall. There’s one of my prettiest Cavallini & Co files at the back. That divine blue notebook is from my gorgeous friend, Melissa.
And here’s my *box in a box* - remember that? Now it’s filled with goodies such as Tina’s clay butterfly, Ang’s blue bookmark, the sweet ‘for Jane’ tag made by my local bloggy friend, Sarah, and a heart-warming letter from Suzanne in the US. Oh and the blue circular gift tags are made by the talented Hobartian, Narelle of Ruby Victoria Letterpress & Printing.
Moving along, we come to the wonderfully inspiring set of affirmation cards (featuring one of my favourite quotations from Henry David Thoreau) from kind Catherine (I’ve since painted that wood in Charlotte’s blue, Catherine ☺). The framed French print is by the talented Jessica Purser who has her Etsy shop, Purrr. You might recognise my little glass dragonfly paperweight you saw here

There’s Beth’s brilliantly hued butterfly, perched atop one of my favourite vases which contains a feather from Iris. In front is the divine ceramic birdie from my treasured friend, Felicity, a special letter in a bottle and a doily-imprinted ceramic tea light holder made by the talented Tasmanian ceramicist, Sally Cassandra.
And to finish off, just feast your eyes on this divine painting by my talented and caring friend, Anna. You can buy more of her loveliness at her Etsy shop. You last saw the little French bottle here. The little turquoise post-it note holder and pencil holder are from Typo. I was given the little angel by some precious German friends. I adore the two little blue ceramic colonial Hobartian houses.

The Eiffel Tower is from Chez Moi – remember how much you enjoyed peeking around Karen’s shop back here? The gold clock was a wedding present and the framed print is also by Jessica Purser.
Overlooking it all are a photo of my Blogging Your Way mood board and my Liberty loveliness I created back here.

I am so delighted at how it’s all coming together. It’s all so very *me*. I am on the hunt for pretty frames for mood boards and need to work out where to hang all the gorgeous garlands you’ve made for me! Then there are all the shelves in my craft cupboard to arrange – look out weekend ☺.

I must say how thrilled I am to have so many of your kind gifts around me – it feels like a big bloggy hug at the moment! Tell me – how does it make you feel to see something you’ve given me here? I hope your heart is as warmed as mine.

A passport to happiness I think.

There's so much to take in and I'm so pleased that you've highlighted the different elements because my eyes were all over the place trying to take it all in.

It's a great pleasure to see things that your Blogerista friends have given with love and it makes me so happy to hear you say that they make you feel like you've been given a great big bloggy hug.

This is a truly glorious space and I can imagine it really does give you a boost to spend time in this light and love filled room.

hey - loving a little nosey round your room for your own. STILL loving that scarf (maybe even a little green!) and sharing your love of Cavallini. I have a lovely little selection of notebooks that I can't use because I love them too much...how silly!
I hope that your space brings you hours of creative happiness. Failing that, a little peace!

All so gorgeous and a delightful 'me' project to engage in. You deserve it, Jane - especially after all you've been through. I immediately recognised Anna's beautiful print from Lona de Anna and definitely want to head on over to Purr ASAP. Happy weekend to you x

Oh WOW!!! What an amazing room! I especially love the paper butterflies and the baby blue frame in the third last picture! I wish I could have a desk that was half as nice as that but with course outlines and readers piled sky high, its not a pleasant sight!

P.S. Thanks for follwing me :)

Oh it doesn't surprise me one bit that your special room of your own is filled with loveliness Jane. Each piece so beautifully placed and put together with the next. LOVE the box in a box idea, I might even adopt that one for my kitchen bench... I currently have all my stationery doodad's clumsily shoved into a small envelope box! Not very attractive, or effective for that matter.
As always, the butterflies scattered throughout are spectacular, so much beauty there. It does all look so very you Jane, exquisite :o) xo

Oh my stars! Thankyou everyone for all your kind and varied comments - I never expected such a response. I am so pleased to have made you smile as that's what this little space does for me.

There are too many comments to address individually but Bron asked a good question - where is my laptop?! Well, we've finally had a phone line connected to my room so I'll be able to blog in there once we move the computer in. So, no laptop (one day!) but a PC instead. For now, I'm blogging next door in the playroom!
